John qualified as a chartered accountant after graduating in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University. He then moved into investment banking as an investment analyst, specialising in the chemical sector on a pan-European basis. In that role he led highly rated teams at Citicorp Scrimgeour Vickers, Hoare Govett, Warburgs and Flemings.
In 1996 John was appointed head of the Corporate Finance Chemical Industry Group at Flemings heading a team specialising in international M&A. In 1999 he moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers, using his experience to implement and run a similar team.
John has advised on chemical transactions in a wide range of sectors including specialties, fine chemicals, aroma chemicals, fertilisers and non-wovens, usually on a cross border basis. His experience encompasses disposals, acquisitions, valuations and fund-raising in both private and public companies including the flotations of both Clariant and Ciba Specialty Chemicals.
John joined Cavendish in 2002 and heads the Cavendish Chemical Group.
