Cavendish advises on the sale of Hunslet-Barclay Ltd

Published November 12, 2007

Cavendish Corporate Finance is pleased to announce the sale of Hunslet-Barclay Ltd to FKI plc, on behalf of Brush Traction, for the sum of £2.1 million.

Brush Traction offers a wide range of products for the rail traction market. The Brush name has been synonymous with quality engineering and the supply of railway equipment since 1865. The company has produced state-of-the-art locomotives and propulsion systems for passenger carrying vehicles worldwide for many years.

Hunslet-Barclay, which is based in Kilmarnock, Scotland, has a history of over 150 years in the rail industry and now operates multiple unit and coach refurbishment.

The acquisition of the business of Hunslet-Barclay fits in with the strategy that FKI has been looking to execute by moving Brush Traction's business into multiple unit refurbishment. This will now allow the company to offer its customers solutions for both locomotives and coach work, whilst providing a strategically important site in Scotland to better serve the Scottish rail industry.
