Cavendish advises on sale of Victor Lighting and Transtar

14 July 2005

Cavendish Corporate Finance is pleased to announce the recent sale of the Victor Lighting and Transtar product lines by Victor Products Limited, a subsidiary of Federal Signal, to Chalmit, a subsidiary of the US Hubbell Group. Both product ranges were considered non core to Victor Products' main focus; namely the manufacture of products for the mining industry. Chalmit, which is based in Glasgow, plans to transfer production of Victor Lighting and Transtar from Newcastle into its Glasgow operations.

Victor Lighting is a worldwide manufacturer of industrial lighting for hazardous locations such as oil and gas offshore platforms, petrochemical facilities and general industrial hazardous locations. It manufactures an extensive range of Zone 1 (i.e. where an explosive gas/air mixture is likely to occur in normal operation) and Zone 2 (i.e. where an explosive atmosphere is not likely in normal operation but may occur sometimes) hazardous area lighting products according to ATEX specifications, the primary standard for explosion-proof products in Europe. Products include standard fluorescent lighting, floodlights, bulkhead lighting, heli-deck lighting and recessible lighting.

Transtar represents the leading manufacturer of lighting control gear for products such as fluorescent and high intensity discharge lamps. These lighting controls cater for industrial and commercial applications in addition to gear trays for the road sign industry. The products fall into three categories; ballasts, ignitors and capacitors.
