Cavendish advises on the sale of JJ Barker Limited for Bridgepoint and 3i

Cavendish Corporate Finance Ltd has advised on the sale of JJ Barker Limited, one of the largest producers and packers of quality salad and vegetables in the UK, to M.B.N. Bomford Limited for an undisclosed consideration.
JJ Barker, based in Kent and Lincolnshire, is one of the UK's largest producers and packers of spring onions and radishes, growing over 30% of all spring onions grown in the UK. Bomfords, based in the vale of Evesham, is a privately owned business growing and importing a range of fresh salads in the UK and overseas. Together, the combined business will have an annual turnover of over £110 million with a customer base across all the UK leading multiples.
Cavendish advised on the sale of the business for the shareholders of JJ Barker, which comprised the management team of the business and the private equity investors Bridgepoint Capital Limited and 3i Group plc.
Previously in 1995, Cavendish advised JJ Barker on an MBI/MBO backed by Bridgepoint and 3i and so Cavendish has now sold the same business twice.

The sale is the latest in Cavendish's established experience of the food sector, including the sale of Gerber Fresh Produce Ltd, the MBI of the Maximuscle Limited food supplements business and the sale of Neal's Yard Wholefoods Ltd.
