Howard Leigh wins industry award for 'Outstanding Achievement in Corporate Finance'
18 April 2008[Howard Leigh], a Partner and founder of Cavendish Corporate Finance, was yesterday presented with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Corporate Finance at the Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Corporate Finance Faculty Annual Dinner & Awards 2008.
[Howard Leigh] set up Cavendish Corporate Finance in 1988. The firm specialises in selling well known UK businesses such as Whittard of Chelsea, Mappin and Webb and Cannon Avent. Howard was chairman of the Corporate Finance Faculty and served on the Takeover Panel as an alternate to the President of the ICAEW. He is senior treasurer of the Conservative Party and vice-president of M&A International, an international alliance of 41 firms in 39 countries.
"It is a real honour to receive this award from my peers who are the key players in corporate finance in the market in which I work, exactly 20 years after I started Cavendish." said [Howard Leigh].
The award was presented by Chris Ward, chairman of the faculty and global head of corporate finance at Deloitte, at the Corporate Finance Faculty 11th Annual Dinner & Awards, which was attended by over 180 professionals involved in corporate finance. It was held on 17 April 2008 at Goldsmiths' Hall, London EC1. The guest speaker was Sir Rocco Forte, chairman and chief executive of the Rocco Forte Collection, the luxury hotels group.
On presenting the award Chris said, ''With an established suite of technical and professional development services, the faculty continues to attract increasing numbers of members from across all sections of the corporate finance market. I am pleased to say that this award therefore represents true peer group recognition.''
The ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty is the largest body of professionals in Europe involved in corporate finance. Over its 11 years, the faculty has attracted 6,400 members, and includes more than 90 member firms, which span across professional services firms, banks, private equity houses, corporate finance boutiques, and law firms. It has also initiated the development of the CF qualification aimed at corporate finance practitioners working in investment banks, accountancy firms, and private equity firms. Those who acquire the qualification, by completing its three stages, will be awarded the letters ''CF''.
