Rustins
Rustins
We are delighted to sell Rustins to Remmers. We have confidence that the Remmers team will be good custodians of our brands and they will continue to grow Rustins. Steve and Kal at Cavendish were excellent at advising us throughout the process. They were always polished and professional as they represented us through the ups and downs of the sale process including negotiations and the due diligence phase. Their strong understanding of our business and the broader sector, and their insights of corporate finance dynamics helped us to achieve our valuation and organisation goals. They were a critical partner and we would like to thank them for their support and wise counsel in helping us achieve the sale.”

Cavendish advises on the sale of Rustins to Remmers
Cavendish has advised the shareholders of Rustins on the cross-border sale of the business to Remmers Group SE, the German family-owned specialist in construction chemicals, wood paints and varnishes, and industrial coatings.
Founded in London in 1924, Rustins is a long-established British supplier of wood finishes, specialist coatings, paints and cleaning products, serving DIY enthusiasts, professional tradespeople and households. Its portfolio includes the Rustins, Briwax, Brummer and Lord Sheraton brands, with products distributed through DIY and specialist retailers, both in-store and online.
The acquisition strengthens Remmers’ presence in the UK and expands its product offering and distribution channels. While Remmers has an established UK business focused on industrial flooring and industrial wood coatings, Rustins provides complementary product ranges, established trade and distribution relationships, and access to new customer groups in the DIY, painting and household retail sectors.
Following completion, Rustins Group is wholly owned by Remmers, which has acquired all shares in Rustins Holdings Limited, including its operating company, Rustins Limited.
Steve Nemeth, Investment Director and Co-head of the Consumer M&A team at Cavendish, said:
“It has been a privilege to advise the Rustins shareholders on this cross-border strategic transaction. Rustins is a fantastic British business with a heritage spanning more than 100 years, a portfolio of established brands and a strong position in the UK DIY and specialist retail markets. Remmers is an excellent strategic fit, bringing complementary products and distribution channels that create exciting opportunities for the business’s continued growth and development. This transaction represents an excellent outcome for the shareholders and provides a strong platform for the next chapter in Rustins’ development. It has been a pleasure for me and the Cavendish team to support the shareholders throughout the process. We wish both Rustins and Remmers every success for the future.”
