Job Overview
This is a hands‑on role within a small accounts team, with responsibility for monthly management accounts and reporting alongside ownership of Accounts Payable and transaction processing. The role suits someone who enjoys ownership, improving processes, and working across both operational and reporting finance in a fast‑paced environment.
Main Tasks
Accounting & Reporting Duties
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Involvement in the design and production of Power BI dashboards.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and post depreciation.
- Support interim and year‑end processes, including audit queries.
- Exposure to the preparation of year‑end statutory accounts.
- Opportunity to support VAT partial exemption calculations.
- Participation in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Support for FCA quarterly reporting and the ICARA process, where appropriate.
Accounts Payable & Expenses
- Full ownership of the purchase ledger, including supplier setup, invoice processing, reconciliations and payment runs (supported by a part‑time Purchase Clerk).
- Processing and review of staff expenses.
- Reconciliation of credit card transactions
- Assist with the rollout and embedding of a new expenses system, including user support and controls.
Team & Ad-hoc Support
- Provide cover and support for Accounts Receivable during periods of annual leave.
- Support process improvements and ad‑hoc finance projects as required.

Qualifications, skills and competencies required:
- Part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience assisting with monthly management accounts
- Strong hands‑on experience managing Accounts Payable / purchase ledger processes.
- Experience working in a small or lean finance team.
- Strong Excel skills (e.g. pivots, lookups, reconciliations).
- High attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Hands‑on involvement in implementing or improving finance systems (e.g. expenses platforms)
- Exposure to Power BI, SQL or similar reporting tools
Personal Attributes:
- Comfortable balancing routine transactional work with month‑end deadlines.
- Proactive and willing to take ownership in a small team environment.
- Strong communication skills with confidence dealing with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
- Organised, methodical and able to produce accurate work at pace.
