Avatar to UK cinema rescue?

The film industry is in focus this week with a King Kong vs Godzilla battle over the Warner Brothers studio. Paramount currently has several factors in its favour including a higher price, all cash offer, speed of execution, and connections in high places. There has been little released about the future plans for the business, but at this stage the Paramount tie-up feels a better outcome by retaining another scaled player in the industry.

At the coal face of the industry is Everyman Media, and following its trading update earlier in the week highlighting a softer 4th quarter, it will be hoping for some more action and adventure next year. The film slate in 2026 is touted as the best line up in years, and with Avatar: Fire and Ash running into January, the big blue people may set the stage for saving both the cinema and the universe.
